We’re taking the ASHG 2020 Annual Meeting experience online. The ASHG 2020 Virtual Meeting will bring the global human genetics and genomics research community together for 4 days of cutting-edge science across all areas of human genetics. Featuring a robust program of exceptional science across plenaries, abstract-driven platforms, posters, and invited sessions, the virtual meeting will bring together ASHG members and leading scientists from around the world while continuing to uphold ASHG’s reputation for quality, content, and engagement.

Look at the updated schedule below – the Program Committee is hard at work scoring abstracts as you read this!

What are some of the benefits of a virtual meeting?

ASHG’s Virtual Meeting will bring all the best of our in-person event to more people, anywhere in the world.  Attendees from around the globe and across the full spectrum of human genetics will have access to innovative research, opportunities to engage and connect, and the newest technologies.

  • 4 days of science
  • 16 plenary abstract talks
  •  10 invited workshops
  • 180 platform talks
  • 18 invited sessions
  •  90 minutes of poster talks and dynamic poster sessions
  • 30 hours of live content
  • CME/CEUs available

Plus: Workshops, networking opportunities, virtual Exhibit Hall, career development activities, award presentations, Epstein and Developing Country Award recognition, diversity and policy forums, CoLabs, industry education events, a career fair, and more!

Here’s how the best parts of the ASHG in-person meeting will translate to virtual, plus some exciting new features.

You’ll enter a virtual Lobby environment where you can navigate to the content you want, anytime you want. Screenshots are examples only.

The Theater will have the main sessions: plenary, platform, invited sessions, Presidential Welcome, and Poster Talks. You’ll navigate to that session and watch/listen while also able to chat with attendees who are viewing at the same time.

You’ll have to wait for each day’s scheduled programming to view live or for the first time. But once that session has happened, you can catch it on-demand anytime. The updated schedule that the Program Committee is working hard on filling up is available here.

Enter the Networking Lounge and choose which discussions in which you’d like to take part. These mini-lounges will feature Q&As with speakers and experts, topic-oriented based on scientific disciplines, and opportunities to discuss what you learned that day.

Visit the Poster Hall to view all uploaded posters. You can search or browse posters and once you select one, you’ll see a short PowerPoint presentation with embedded audio to hear a short presentation. You can even email the author!

Visit the Exhibit Hall and interact with the latest innovations! If you enter a booth, you can initiate a chat with company representatives, watch videos, and download PDFs to learn more. If you visit a booth, your basic contact information will be shared with the exhibitor, like a badge scan at an in-person meeting.

You’ll have your own Profile where you can supply a photo, email other attendees, and even send an electronic business card. Make sure you fill out these sections to maximize your networking! There are even fun trivia quizzes, puzzles, and gamification so you can earn points to win prizes!

Access to the Virtual Meeting will also feature: workshops, poster talks, award presentations, early-career and trainee career development, CoLabs and industry education, and much more!

Registration opens on July 29 – plan to join ASHG and your community of fellow genetics professionals at the Virtual Meeting, like you’ve never experienced it before!
