Celebrating 75 Years of the American Society of Human Genetics

Many Genomes. One Humanity.

Learn About the Society’s 75th Anniversary Celebrations

ASHG 75 Anniversary Logo

In 1948, the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) was established to lead research, education, and service in human genetics. In 2023, over three quarters of a century later, there have been countless breakthroughs in research, diagnostics and treatment, collaborations around the world, and lives changed for all people due to genetics and genomics research. ASHG will mark its 75th anniversary this year with the motto “One Humanity, Many Genomes™,” as we are more similar than we are different. In understanding our health, our genetic differences impact disease risk and are greatly influenced by our environment.

Through a series of celebratory events and activities, ASHG is inviting everyone to both recognize all that has been achieved and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. The 75th anniversary of ASHG is a time to honor the achievements of their Society, reflect on how far the broad field has come, and to look ahead to the next 25 years of progress in human genetics with excitement. We look forward to celebrating “One Humanity™, Many Genomes” with you!
