ASHG 2022 offers attendees the opportunity to purchase and apply for credits in the following ways. There is a separate fee of $60. All attendees who wish to earn credits will be required to complete a post-meeting evaluation in order to receive certified credits.

Not all sessions are eligible for CME or CEUs due to the strict guidelines ASHG must adhere to for accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). We strive to offer as many credits as possible. To see which sessions are eligible for CME credits, read more about the guidelines and to apply for credits, please visit Continuing Education Credits (CME, NSGC, and P.A.C.E.®) – ASHG.

Instructions to claim credits will be available in September and will be sent to all registrants who paid for credits during the registration process.

Cost Savings

ASHG strives to make its Annual Meetings as affordable as possible, so various registration rates are offered to ease the financial burden. We recommend registering before the early deadline on August 30th to take advantage of the lowest rates. Becoming a member of ASHG will save you even more! The regular member registration rate saves you $360 (more than the cost of membership).

Other ways to reduce costs for attendance include booking your flight and making your hotel reservations early to take advantage of lower rates. In addition, you may want to consider reaching out to colleagues attending so you can consider sharing a room.

In addition to considerable discounts to specific registration categories, ASHG also offers merit-based awards for trainees and restricted income countries. ASHG also has the Human Genetics Scholars Initiative, which is a 2-year, year-round mentorship program for individuals from underrepresented groups. You must submit an abstract by June 9 to be eligible for these awards.

Cancellation

Cancellation requests must be received by email ASHG@xpressreg.net no later than October 11 for a full refund minus a $75 administrative processing fee. No refunds will be processed after this date except in the unlikely event of cancellation of the in-person Annual Meeting. ASHG will not provide a refund if an attendee is unable to attend due to travel carrier cancellations or other unforeseen incidents beyond ASHG’s control.

Health and Safety

The safety of our participants is our number one priority. At this time, we have no reason to believe that the meeting will cancel. We believe COVID-19 will be an ongoing health and safety risk that ASHG and our business partners will have to manage with informed measures. Should circumstances no longer allow for a safe in-person experience in Los Angeles, we will communicate with our attendees and exhibitors on options.

Refer to our  health and safety information for details on vaccination policies. We have addressed some common questions below but please continue to check our health and safety page for all up-to-date details.

  • ASHG will require proof of your up-to-date vaccination record. You will receive a link in September from our third-party vendor to upload your vaccine record.
  • We will be providing an update on mask policies closer to the meeting.
  • During the registration process, attendees will be required to sign a risk liability disclaimer.
  • Attendees are strongly encouraged to test for COVID-19  prior to arriving onsite.
  • We will provide information at the registration desk about local testing sites in case you are feeling sick during the week.
  • We will continue to explore contactless ways to meet and engage to support our return to an in-person event and we will provide details as we explore these safety options.
  • We will develop seating in meeting rooms as well as color-coded badge lanyards to allow for various levels of comfort. Details will be available closer to the meeting.

Please review the convention center and headquarter hotel safety protocols by clicking on the appropriate links below.

The Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) has established objectives and program planning through the ASM Global VenueShield Program. VenueShield provides the most advanced hygienic safeguards. The LACC:

  • Clean to remove dust, debris, and dirt from surfaces by scrubbing, washing, and rinsing.
  • Sanitize to reduce the bacteria identified on the product’s label on surfaces
  • Disinfect to destroy or inactivate both the bacteria and viruses identified on the product’s label on nonporous surfaces.
  • Increase indoor air quality monitored by the LACC engineering team: they maximize, to the extent feasible, the quantity of outside air in our buildings and to improve indoor air quality with mechanical or natural ventilation systems
  • When possible, increasing outside air exchange rate 2 hours prior to events and 1 hour after events conclude to increase natural air circulation.
  • Comply with all LA County Department of Public Health standards.
