Advance notice of needs must be provided no later than September 22 to allow time to explore accommodations, especially for attendees who may require additional services such as sign language interpreters. ASHG strives to be inclusive of all meeting attendees.

ASHG 2023 Meeting Policies

The ASHG 2023 Annual Meeting requires registrants to adhere to several policies. They include ASHG’s Code of Conduct policy, Logo usage policy, Social Media Guidelines, recording and camera usage policies, as well as other policies. Information can be found on our policies page.

CME/CEUs

ASHG 2023 offers attendees the opportunity to purchase and apply for continuing education credits, for a separate fee of $85, in the following ways.

  • CME Credits (AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™)
  • NSGC CEU Credits for Genetic Counselors
  • P.A.C.E.® CEUs for California-Licensed Clinical and Molecular Laboratory Directors

Not all sessions are eligible for CMEs or CEUs due to the strict guidelines ASHG must adhere to set by our accrediting bodies. We strive to offer as many credits as possible. To see which sessions are eligible for CME/CEU credits, read more about the guidelines and to apply for credits, please visit Continuing Education Credits (CME, NSGC, and P.A.C.E.®) – ASHG.

Instructions to claim credits will be available in September and will be sent to all registrants who paid for credits during the registration process.

If you wish to apply for credits after you have registered, simply visit our Registration Resource Center (available in May) where you will be able to edit your registration and add on these items for a fee of $85.

Cost Savings

ASHG strives to make its Annual Meetings as affordable as possible, so various registration rates are offered to ease the financial burden. We recommend registering before the early deadline on August 24 to take advantage of the lowest rates. Becoming a member of ASHG will save you even more! The regular member registration rate saves you $360 – that’s more than the cost of membership itself!

Other ways to reduce costs for attendance include booking your flight and making your hotel reservations early to take advantage of lower rates. In addition, you may want to consider reaching out to colleagues attending so you can consider sharing a room.

In addition to considerable discounts to specific registration categories, ASHG also offers merit-based awards for trainees and restricted income countries. ASHG also has the Human Genetics Scholars Initiative, which is a 2-year, year-round mentorship program for individuals from underrepresented groups. You must submit an abstract by June 8 to be eligible for these awards.

Please see our blog post for additional ways to save.

Registration Cancellation

Please see our policies page for more information.

Virtual/Hybrid

Instead of focusing on adding a virtual or hybrid component to ASHG’s annual meeting, ASHG has launched and grown a wide range of year-round virtual education programs on many scientific topics in the form of digital forums, journal clubs, workshops, webinars, and podcasts. Accessible through ASHG’s online Learning Center, live webinars and podcasts are free to all, interactive workshops can be purchased for a small fee, and all types of on-demand content are free to ASHG members. We are also currently investigating additional ways to enhance ASHG global virtual learning offerings for more year-round engagement.  At the same time, the Society has affirmed the value of the in-person Annual Meeting experience and that event’s unique role within our growing range of scientific education, advocacy, and career development programs. Although it will be a primarily in-person experience, ASHG 2023 will continue to live stream select programming and, based on learning and user experiences over the last several years, we will be assessing to what extent and how we will capture content and make it available after the 2023 meeting.
