Shared Interest Groups: Your Peer Connection
Shared Interest Groups are where you can actively Connect, Communicate, and Collaborate with fellow ASHG members who share similar ideas and interests.
The Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) have been brought forward thanks to the work of ASHG’s Membership Engagement Committee. The Committee has stressed the importance of being able to communicate with peers professionally and the SIGs were implemented. Each SIG hosts an in-person meet-up at the ASHG Annual Meeting each year. We hope that through these meetups, you will form new, stronger professional and personal connections within the scientific community.
There are currently four Shared Interest Groups (SIGs). Members may join one or more SIG:
- Computational Genomics, AI, & Statistical Genetics
Mission: This SIG provides a collaborative community where members learn, share, and apply cutting-edge computational approaches in genomics, artificial intelligence, and statistical genetics through education, networking, and the exchange of emerging methods and best practices.
- Phenotypes, Genotypes, & Disease Biology
Mission: Through cutting-edge educational content, peer-to-peer learning, networking, and exposure to emerging research, members gain the knowledge, resources, and partnerships needed to accelerate discovery and translate genomic and phenotypic insights into meaningful biological and clinical advances.
- Emerging Omics & Clinical Translational Research
Mission: The SIG serves as a collaborative hub for scientists interested in emerging omics and clinical translational research, enabling members to share methods, learn from early adopters, discover new applications, and build cross-disciplinary collaborations that advance research and clinical impact. - Genetic Counseling
Mission: The SIG serves as a collaborative forum for genetic counselors, providing opportunities to connect with peers, stay current on advances in genetic science and patient-centered care, exchange knowledge and experiences, and build a strong professional community that supports innovation, research, and advocacy.
