ASHG is committed to assisting attendees with disabilities and/or special needs. Every effort will be made to accommodate disabilities or special needs. Advance notice of needs must be provided to allow time to explore services, especially for attendees who may require sign language services.
At the time of registration, please indicate your needs in the accessibility requirements section. Once your registration is complete, an ASHG staff member will be in contact to obtain additional information. If you have already registered and find yourself in need of assistance, please contact email@example.com.
Please note the standard meeting room set has reserved areas at the front of the room for attendees who need to be close to the stage and for those in wheelchairs or on scooters. For speakers, the rooms have a stage with a head table and standing podium. If you are presenting and require a lower podium, contact us at least two weeks prior to the meeting.
If you have difficulty in walking long distances, consider renting a scooter from Scootaround. They will deliver your scooter to your hotel and pick it up when you no longer need it. For more details or to make a reservation, call (888) 441-7575.
A gender-neutral restroom is located on the Lower Level (Lobby A) of the convention center.
Hotels in the official ASHG hotel block have ADA rooms set aside on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please secure your room as soon as possible and check the appropriate section when submitting your request. You can also contact us if you need help.
Child Care: ASHG encourages families to travel to San Diego and enjoy the many family-oriented activities the city has to offer. In partnership with KiddieCorp, ASHG provides formal child care at the convention center. Advance registration is required and will open in April. Meals are not included. Parents can order lunch in advance; an order form will be sent to all parents. Additionally, staff will not administer medication (including sunscreen), and any child who is ill will not be admitted to the center. For the safety and security of your child(ren), ASHG has the right to refuse care to any child based on space availability as well as to any child unable to adapt to group situations, or to any child whose presence or behavior may disrupt the program or endanger the health or safety of other children.
Family Room: Space is available in the convention center to give parents and children a place to relax during the meeting. The room is equipped with a refrigerator, multiple power outlets, comfortable furniture, and separate private areas for nursing mothers. Attendees may not use this room for babysitting purposes.
Nursing Stations: There are two permanent family/nursing stations inside the convention center: one inside the women’s restrooms in Lobby E (behind Starbucks) and one next to the gender-neutral restrooms in Lobby A.
A First Aid station is available in the convention center.
ASHG is partnering with the international film and broadcasting company WebsEdge to produce ASHG TV, a unique platform to learn about cutting-edge research and science, as well as draw attention to the hard work of human genetics professionals. On site, ASHG TV will be screened around the venue, in selected attendee hotels on dedicated channels, and online and on social media. Each daily episode has two features:
- Conference News: On-site interviews, session highlights, and attendees’ insights on meeting content and events
- In-Depth Reports: Five-minute, documentary-style films highlighting programs, case studies and best practices from the field of human genetics
Complimentary wi-fi is available to all meeting registrants in all public lobbies and meeting spaces of the convention center except inside the Exhibit & Poster Hall.
Please visit the Meetings Management Office to look for items lost or turn in items found.
A luggage and coat check is available in the Sails Pavilion located on the Upper Level of the convention center.
ASHG does not provide full meals as part of the registration fee. However, there are food concessions within the convention center, as well as many restaurants nearby. Check out the Travel page for more information.
A prayer/meditation room is available in the convention center.
