The Department of Molecular and Human Genetics currently has 66 doctoral level faculty, 43 of which hold primary tenure track appointments in the Department. The clinical program is unified with strengths in clinical genetics, molecular diagnosis, biochemical genetics, cytogenetics, dysmorphology, obstetrical genetics, prenatal diagnosis, and epigenetics. The predoctoral program emphasizes molecular studies of human diseases, gene regulation, developmental biology, mouse genetics, Drosophila genetics, yeast analysis, and molecular diagnosis. Specific human genetic project areas include inherited ataxias and neuropathies, Prader-Willi syndrome, disorders of bone morphogenesis, fragile X syndrome, Fanconi anemia, microdeletion syndromes, eye diseases, cardiac malformations, and others.
