The training program is a component of the Department of Medical Genetics. The large and diverse patient population of the Genetic Counseling Clinics at Henry Ford Hospital and the Prenatal Diagnostic Program at Henry Ford Hospital (over 2,000 patients/year) provides many opportunities for clinical training and research. Specialty Clinics include neurofibromatosis and neurogenetics clinic. The teaching staff includes three M.D. clinical geneticists (pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology), one clinical biochemical/molecular geneticist, one Ph.D. medical geneticist/cytogeneticist, one Ph.D. medical geneticist/clinical molecular geneticist and other subspecialists. The trainee will concentrate on clinical genetics and dysmorphology and/or cytogenetics, reproductive genetics or clinical molecular genetics. Clinical, cytogenetic and molecular genetics research projects are expected of all residents or fellows.
