| The graduate program in genetic counseling is a two-year master of science program established as a collaborative between California State University-Stanislaus, University of California San Francisco, San Francisco State University and Kaiser Permanente. All the classes for the program will be located in the vibrant San Francisco Bay area, with its rich diversity of people, easy access to natural beauty, and exciting cultural and recreational activities. The curriculum will include interdisciplinary coursework in the areas of human genetics, molecular genetics, biochemical genetics, cytogenetics, cancer genetics, medical genetics, research methods, and psychosocial issues including ethical and cultural perspectives. Clinical internships are available from a wide selection of participating clinical sites within the Bay Area and nearby regions. The Bay Area has a wonderful community of genetic professionals with a long history of training genetic counselors upon which to draw for their expertise, teaching, and clinical supervision. | |
