| The Master of Science in Molecular Pathology (MSMP) Graduate Program resides in the School of Allied Health Sciences at TTUHSC. It was the first, and remains the only, accredited graduate Diagnostic Molecular Scientist program in the nation. The MSMP program is an intensive, hands-on, one-year curriculum with a focus on the study of human molecular genetics, diseases and the associated molecular diagnostic technologies used in the clinical molecular pathology laboratory. All students conduct basic biomedical research, participate in coursework focused on human genetics, and undergo hands-on clinical training at one of several affiliated laboratories throughout the nation. Past and ongoing research areas include osteogenesis, inherited deafness, Von Willebrand's disease, thrombophilia, development of infectious disease detection methods, and many other diverse areas related to human disease. Graduates are eligible to sit for NCA and ASCP certification in molecular pathology. |
