The Genetic Counseling Program is administratively located in the Biology Department of Arcadia University. The University grants the Master of Science degree in Genetic Counseling through its Graduate Studies Department. The Genetic Counseling Program is an interdisciplinary professional training program that prepares individuals to work as genetic counselors in a wide variety of settings. The curriculum offers a balance between basic medical sciences, didactic clinical instruction, and supervised clinical experience. Courses are drawn from the Genetic Counseling Program and the other health related masters degree-granting programs of Arcadia University (i.e., the graduate programs in Counseling Psychology, Health Education and Administration, Public Health, and Physician Assistant). Clinical training is offered at a number of sites throughout the Delaware Valley under the overall supervision of an academic coordinator of clinical training. Clinical training is available in the full spectrum of clinical genetics settings including but not limited to antenatal diagnosis, pediatric genetics, Adult genetics, cancer genetics, teratology, and numerous pediatric and adult specialty clinics.
