| The training program is an interdisciplinary, combined program fostered by the Division of Medical Genetics and the Center for Human Genetics Research at Vanderbilt. Participating faculty hold appointments in many different clinical and basic science departments. The core curriculum includes both molecular and population/statistical genetics with electives chosen from courses in genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, bioinformatics, statistics, and molecular biology. Substantial Core facilities include Subject Ascertainment, DNA Banking, Genotyping, and Sequencing, Data Analysis and computer/bioinformatics and are available to facilitate research. The training program also includes a DNA diagnostics lab, and a State Genetics Center providing opportunities for clinical exposure to antenatal testing, clinical genetics; biochemical, cyto- and molecular genetics in a variety of specialty clinics and laboratories. | |
