This is an integrated program in a large urban medical school, run in collaboration with the Genetics and Metabolism Program at Health Sciences Centre, a multi-hospital tertiary care facility that houses the Provincial Genetics Services Program. Faculty members hold appointments in Biochemistry and Medical Genetics, Pediatrics and Child Health, Medicine, and/or Community Health Sciences. We offer a wide range of courses, seminars and tutorials leading to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees and the program provides pre- and postdoctoral research and training opportunities in clinical/medical genetics, cytogenetics, molecular genetics, epidemiology and teratology. The program stresses the interrelationship of clinical genetics and basic sciences. Graduate students may attend counseling and prenatal clinics, case rounds, and patient reviews. Clinical trainees are involved in graduate course work and research, and have the opportunity to obtain a concurrent M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree. There are excellent clinical, laboratory and computer facilities to support a wide range of basic and clinical research.
