| The Department of Human Genetics at the University of Michigan Medical School offers a variety of advanced pre- and post-doctoral training and research opportunities in both basic science and medical genetics. MS/PhD/post-doctoral/MD fellows in Human Genetics study with faculty with diverse interests in a wide range of model genetic systems. The Ph.D. program in human genetics is administered through the PIBS program (http://www.med. umich.edu/pibs/). The Genetic Counseling Program (http://www.med.umich.edu/hg/EDUCATION/PROGRAMS/GCWeb/gcweb1.htm) offers a two-year integrated curriculum that combines extensive clinical, research and didactic training in basic and applied medical genetics and genetic counseling. These experiences utilize faculty and resources in multiple departments in the medical school, hospital and the Schools of Social Work and Public Health. Postdoctoral medical genetics (http://www.med.umich.edu/ pediatrics/education/genetics/index.htm) training for ABMG Certification is institutionally supported and utilizes faculty from five departments (Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Pathology, Human Genetics). The University of Michigan offers outstanding prenatal, teratologic, pediatric, biochemical, adult, cancer, and neurological clinical genetics experience as well as strong research opportunities. | |
