The Molecular Technology program is designed to provide the skills and theory necessary to enable individuals to work in clinical genetics, oncology, paternity, forensic, research and other laboratories employing molecular techniques. The one year curriculum consists of both didactic and clinical practicum and begins in the fall semester. Skills covered are PCR, blotting including Southern, sequencing, RT-PCR, microarrays, fingerprinting and similar applications. Quality control, laboratory mathematics, laboratory management and human genetic concepts are covered. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) certification exam in molecular biology [CLSp(MB)]. NAACLS accreditation pending.
