Sponsorship Opportunities
Opportunities for sponsorship at the 57th
ASHG Annual Meeting are available to contracted exhibitors and to government
agencies (exceptions must be approved by the Society).
Sponsorships will be awarded based on first offer received
(i.e., application and check or credit card received date). If the requested
event has already been assigned, ASHG will contact the applicant to discuss other available options.

| High School Student/Teacher Workshop |

250 students and teachers from the San Diego area will spend a full
day at the San Diego Convention Center on Tuesday, October 23. The
Workshop will consist of multiple interactive sessions, including a DNA
extraction and an experiment that covers the genetics of the senses.
Students and teachers will also have the opportunity to explore
conservation genetics, stem cells, collecting their family history and
newborn screening in a number of break-out sessions. |

| Bus Transportation for students and teachers to
and from the High School Student/Teacher Workshop |

The San Diego school system has specifically requested assistance
with transportation for their students and teachers. They cannot come
for a full-day workshop unless we receive sponsorship for bus
transportation. |

| Undergraduate Workshop |

| |
Fifty genetics educators will have a full-day workshop concentrating
on improving pedagogical approaches to teaching genetics to
undergraduates and similar audiences.

| Trainee-Mentor Luncheon |

A wonderful opportunity for trainees (graduate students,
postdoctoral
fellows and clinical fellows) in the field of human genetics to chat
informally with senior members of the Society about career goals and

| Trainee Networking Reception |

| |
This event is designed for trainees specifically interested in
learning more about different careers in genetics and networking with
individuals in those careers. This session will have a keynote speaker
who will discuss negotiation skills, a panel of genetics professionals
that will provide hints for trainees looking for non-traditional
careers, and a one-hour networking session where trainees can discuss
career options over dessert and drinks with individuals representing
more than 10 different fields. Wednesday, October 24. |
