Trainee Awards Program

For outstanding trainee research in 2007, the American Society of Human Genetics will award 30 trainee awards at $300 each to semifinalists, based on abstracts scored by members of the Program Committee. Of those 30 trainee awardees, 18 finalists (top scorers reviewed by the Awards Committee) will receive complimentary registration. These 18 finalists’ presentations will be evaluated by three reviewers at the annual meeting. Six winners will be chosen (one in each category, see below). They will win an additional $200 each to be presented at the Awards program on the last day of the meeting.
 

Semi-finalists and finalists will be notified in September by mail.

Members of the Awards Committee are David Valle, chair; Michael Boehnke; Anne Bowcock, Jan Friedman; John Moran; Robert Nussbaum; Wylie Burke, ex officio.

Eligibility
The nominee must be first (i.e., presenting) author on an abstract submitted for either platform or poster presentation at the 2007 ASHG meeting.

New this year: The nominee must be a member of ASHG. An online membership application will be available through the abstract submission process, or click here for an online ASHG membership application.

The nominee may not be more than six years in postdoctoral training.

The nominee must have performed a major portion of the work, which must be verified in writing by the nominator. The form is available at the 2007 abstract submission site, online on April 10.

The nominator must be an active member in good standing of The American Society of Human Genetics. Click here for online ASHG membership application.

The nominator must fill out a form related to background information on the work being submitted. This form should be printed, completed, signed and faxed to the ASHG Administrative Office no later than June 15, 2007.

Complete all information for the trainee awards section of the abstract submission form (available online on April 10). Please note on the abstract submission form whether you are pre- or postdoctoral.

When the name of the nominator is entered online, the nominator submission form will appear. This form must be printed, completed and signed by the nominator, then faxed to the ASHG Administrative Office at (301) 634-7079 no later than June 15, 2007.

All trainees who are first authors on abstracts are encouraged to participate!
