Fees
The online, advance
registration site will close on the evening of Wednesday, October 17, but
on-site registration will be available at the meeting, beginning on the
afternoon of Tuesday, October 23, 2007.

Each registration fee includes
entry to all invited sessions, platform sessions, poster sessions, and exhibits.
Single day registrations are not available. For registrants whose
employers require vendor federal tax ID numbers, the ASHG Tax ID number is
52-1419397.
Registration fees do
not include admission to the
Trainee-Mentor Luncheon
on Wednesday, October 24, from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM.
ASHG members in good standing
and individuals who have applied for 2007 membership may register for the
meeting at ASHG member rates.
Important: Authors who
submit abstracts for presentation are not automatically registered for the
meeting.
Postdoctoral fellows and
students working toward a degree in human genetics or an allied field qualify
for the trainee registration rate. Students who register on site at the meeting
should bring a student ID card or a letter signed by their department head to
certify student/fellow status.
All students are required to
register at the Trainee member rates for the meeting to gain admittance to
scientific sessions, poster board and exhibit areas. Guest tickets will not be
issued to students for individual sessions or meeting days.
Security guards are instructed to admit only those individuals wearing an
official meeting badge
Registration Payment
Registration payments must be made by credit card (American Express, MasterCard,
Discover or VISA only) online at the ASHG meeting registration site
(open on or
around May 25, 2007). Do not fax or mail your registration. Contact the meeting
registrar, Toney Vogel, at
tvogel@ashg.org if for any reason you cannot register on line
EARLY
Registration
The deadline for
receipt of early registration at the reduced rates was Friday, September 7.
Registrations received after September 7 will be
accepted at the
higher rates.
There will be no exception to the early registration deadline. Registrations are
accepted ONLY with a valid credit card number (American Express, MasterCard,
Discover or VISA only). Purchase orders and wire
transfers are not accepted for payment of registration or other fees.
ADVANCE
Registration
The online, advance

Receipt, Badge and Tickets
A registration receipt,
badge, and tickets for
special events
ordered in advance will be mailed to EARLY
registrants in mid-September.
In
addition to printed meeting publications described below, all annual meeting
details, schedules, exhibitor lists, abstract text, and the searchable
abstract/presentation
and individualized itinerary planner programs will be available online at the 2007
meeting site (http://www.ashg.org/,
click on Annual Meeting) on or around September 6. This site will serve as the
formal e-publication of the meeting.
Program
Guide, Searchable CD, and At-a-Glance Concurrent Platform Sessions Reference
The
Program Guide, often called “The Small Book” (containing general meeting
information, highlights and logistics; meeting schedule; scientific
presentations; exhibitor information; and speaker and author index) will be
mailed before the meeting to early registrants (i.e., those who register online
on or before September 7, 2007) residing in the US. A CD will be enclosed with
the Program Guide and will contain searchable text of all abstracts, an
individualized meeting planner program, meeting schedule, exhibitor information,
scientific session listings, and other meeting details and logistics. A printed
listing of concurrent platform sessions in a handy at-a-glance format will also
be included in this mailing.
Early registrants (i.e., those who register online on or before September 7)
residing outside the US will be mailed the searchable CD only, unless they
choose to receive the Program Guide/CD/At-a-Glance Concurrent Platform Session
Reference by providing Federal Express account information when they register
online. Early registrants residing outside the US who wish to use Federal
Express to receive a Program Guide/CD/At-a-Glance Concurrent Platform Listing
should check with their local Federal Express office to obtain an estimate of
charges for delivery to their country. Contents of the mailing will weigh
approximately 14 ounces (approximately .4 kg).
For those who
register after the early registration deadline of September 7, the Program
Guide, CD, and At-a-Glance Concurrent Platform Session Reference will be
available at the meeting.
Abstracts Volume
The
printed Abstracts Volume (the Large Book) will be distributed to all registrants
at the meeting. It will contain text of all abstracts, meeting schedule, speaker
and author index, permuted title index, keyword index, and exhibitor
advertisements.
Session Admission
Admission to all scientific
sessions, poster area and exhibits will be by badge only. These badges also will
be used as exhibitors' inquiry records. Badges will be checked by security
guards and must be worn to all ASHG scientific and social functions. Any
individual who is not wearing an official meeting badge will be directed to the
registration desk to register or, if already registered, to purchase a
replacement badge.
Replacement Badges
A $5 fee may be charged to
registrants for each replacement badge requested i.e., to replace badges that
are left at home or in hotel rooms, lost or forgotten.
Registrant
Look Up
Some
information supplied on registration forms by registrants will be available on
computers in the registration area of the San Diego Convention Center to assist
attendees in locating one another.
Registration Cancellations and
Refunds
To cancel a registration
and receive a refund, registrants must send a written or e-mail request to the
ASHG Registrar, Toney Vogel:

ASHG will honor requests
for refunds in writing that are received no later than Friday, October 5,
2007. Refunds will not be processed until all badges and/or tickets are
returned. Please note that cancellations are subject to a processing fee of $50.
No refunds will be issued for requests received after
October 5, 2007.
No refunds will be
made on site for registration or tickets purchased in advance for
special events.

Continuing Medical Education (CME)
This activity has been planned and
implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint
sponsorship of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology
(FASEB) and The American Society of Human Genetics.
The Federation of
American Societies for Experimental Biology is accredited by the ACCME to
provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The Federation
designates this educational activity for up to 3l.25
credit hours in category
1 credit toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.
CME application
forms will be
available
online beginning October 23,
2007. There is a $50 application fee payable upon submission of the form. .
Meeting Objective
The objective of
this meeting is to provide a forum for the exchange of new research by
scientists and investigators. At the completion of the meeting, participants
should be able to: 1) discuss the research underway and/or the current topics
relevant to their areas of interest in human genetics, 2) demonstrate a gained
level of insight into the methods being used by researchers and practitioners in
this field, and 3) describe a personal exposure to
several stimulating areas of inquiry with speakers in related areas.
Target Audience
This meeting is intended
for all professionals involved in teaching and research in human genetics,
genomics and molecular biology, with emphasis on scientists and physicians.
Genetic Counselor CEU
Information
The American Society of Human
Genetics has applied for continuing education units (CEUs) for the ASHG Annual
Meeting. Those who wish to sign up in advance to earn CEUs should check the
appropriate box when registering on-line. The $30 fee will be added to the total
amount to be charged for registration.
Materials will be mailed to CEU
registrants who register by the early registration deadline of September 7.
Those who register via the on-line registration site in advance, but after
September 7, will need to pick up their materials from the ASHG Membership
Office on site. Individuals may also wait until they arrive at the meeting to
sign up for CEUs. CEU fees are non-cancellable and non-refundable.
