![]() Student Awards Program For outstanding student research in 2006, The American Society of Human Genetics will award $500 to an individual in each of the award categories that follow:
Student abstracts will be scored during the review process by members of the program committee. Subcategories, i.e., clinical, basic, and translational, will be determined and finalists will be chosen by members of the awards committee. Finalists will be notified in September. The awards committee will judge finalists' presentations during the annual meeting. Recipients will be announced and awards made at the 2006 annual meeting on Friday, October 13. Members of the awards committee are David Valle, chair; Maureen Bocian; M. Boehnke; Evan Eichler; Charis Eng; Jane Gitschier; and Stephen Warren, ex officio. Eligibility The nominee must be first (i.e., presenting) author on an abstract submitted for either platform or poster presentation at the 2006 ASHG meeting. The nominee may not be more than six years in postdoctoral training. The nominee must have performed a major portion of the work, which must be verified in writing by the nominator. The form is available at the 2006 abstract submission site, online on/around April 15. The nominator must be an active member in good standing of The American Society of Human Genetics. This form should be printed, completed, signed and faxed to the ASHG Administrative Office no later than June 30, 2006. Please note on the abstract submission form whether you are pre- or postdoctoral. When the name of the nominator is entered online, the nominator submission form will appear. This form must be printed, completed and signed by the nominator, then faxed to the ASHG Administrative Office at (301) 634-7079 no later than June 30, 2006.
