MEETING INFORMATION AND ABSTRACTS
Registration
Special Notice: Due to security reasons and overcrowding in session rooms in previous years, badges must be worn and visible at all times and will be checked at all scientific sessions, including the Social Issues and Education Sessions on Wednesday morning. Individuals who have not registered or who have lost or forgotten their badges will not be admitted to sessions or to the exhibit and poster areas. Registrants who lose badges may obtain a replacement badge for a charge of $5.
Registration Fees
The online registration is closed now. You have to register on site in order to attend the meeting.
The online, advance registration site will close on the evening of October 21, but onsite registration will be available at the meeting, beginning on the afternoon of 25 October.

Each registration fee includes entry to all invited sessions, platform sessions, poster sessions, and exhibits. Single day registrations are not available. For registrants whose employers require vendor federal tax ID numbers, ASHG's is #52-1419397.
Registration fees do not include admission to the Trainee-Mentor Luncheon on Wednesday, October 26, from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM, or the boxed supper workshop to be held Wednesday, from 7:30 PM until 9:00 PM, titled Mock Study Section Workshop/Boxed Supper, or to the Old West Night on Saturday, October 29, from 7:00 PM until 11:00 PM.
ASHG members in good standing and individuals who have applied for 2005 membership may register for the meeting at ASHG member rates. To join, complete the online ASHG membership application.
Postdoctoral fellows and students working toward a degree in human genetics or allied field qualify for the trainee registration rate. Students who register on site at the meeting should bring a student ID card or a letter signed by their department head to certify student/fellow status.
All students are required to register at the Trainee member rates for the meeting to gain admittance to scientific sessions, poster board and exhibit areas. Guest tickets will not be issued to students for individual sessions or meeting days. Security guards are instructed to admit only those individuals wearing an official meeting badge.
Registration Payment
Registration payments must be made by credit card (American Express, MasterCard, Discover or VISA only) online at the ASHG meeting registration site (open on or around May 16, 2005). Do not fax or mail your registration. Contact Toney Vogel at tvogel@ashg.org if for any reason you cannot register on line.
EARLY Registration
The deadline for receipt of early registration at the reduced rates is Friday, September 9. Registrations received after September 9 will be accepted at the higher rates. There will be no exception to the early registration deadline. Registrations are accepted ONLY with a valid credit card number (American Express, MasterCard, Discover or VISA only). Purchase orders are not accepted for payment of fees.
ADVANCE Registration
The online, advance registration site will close on the evening of October 21, but onsite registration will be available at the meeting beginning on October 25.
Receipt, Badge and Tickets
A registration receipt, badge, and tickets for special events ordered in advance will be mailed to EARLY registrants in mid-September.
Abstracts Volume and Searchable CD
Annual meeting details, schedules, exhibitor lists, full text of abstracts and the searchable abstract program will be posted online at the ASHG meeting site at http://www.ashg.org. This site will serve as the formal e-publication of the meeting.
All early meeting registrants (i.e., those who register by September 9) will receive a meeting CD by mail in advance of the meeting. The CD will contain the searchable text of all abstracts, the full meeting program, exhibit information, meeting details and logistics.
The Abstracts volume (containing text of all abstracts, a speaker/author index, a permuted title index, and exhibitor advertisements) will be mailed to early U.S. registrants before the meeting (i.e., those who register by September 9). Early registrants living outside the U.S. will have the option on the registration form of providing the ASHG office with their Federal Express account number so that delivery of the Abstracts volume can be guaranteed before the meeting. Otherwise, these registrants may pick up their Abstracts volume when they arrive at the meeting. Registrants from outside the U.S. who are interested in having the Abstracts book shipped via Federal Express should check with their local Federal Express office to obtain an estimate of charges for delivery to their country. The Abstracts volume will weigh approximately 3 pounds/1.4 kg.
Meeting Program Guide
The meeting Program Guide (approximately 9" h x 4" w x 1") will be printed and distributed to all registrants at the meeting. It will contain general information; a guide to exhibitors; a schedule of all sessions and events; an author/speaker index; and details of invited sessions, platform and poster presentations.
Session Admission
Admission to all scientific sessions, poster area and exhibits will be by badge only. These badges also will be used as exhibitors' inquiry records. Badges will be checked by security guards and must be worn to all ASHG scientific and social functions. Any individual who is not wearing an official meeting badge will be directed to the registration desk to register or, if already registered, to purchase a replacement badge.
Replacement Badges
A $5 fee may be charged to registrants for each replacement badge requested i.e., to replace badges that are left at home or in hotel rooms, lost or forgotten.
Registrant Directory Desk
Some information supplied on registration forms by registrants will be available on request at the Registrant Directory Desk in the registration area of the Salt Palace Convention Center to assist attendees in locating one another.
Registration Cancellations and Refunds
To cancel any advance registration and receive a refund, registrants must send a written or email request to the ASHG Annual Meeting Office for receipt no later than Friday, October 21. A $35 processing fee to cancel registration will be deducted from all registration payment refunds. No refunds will be made on site for registration or tickets purchased in advance for special events.
