RULES AND REGULATIONS
Fire Prevention Regulations
All exhibitors and their service contractors must comply with all applicable
federal, State, and municipal laws, operating guidelines and all other rules and
requirements of the San Diego Police and Fire departments or any other municipal
authorities, including local fire and building codes that apply to public
assembly facilities. It is your responsibility and duty to be aware of all fire
and safety requirements during your tenure as an exhibitor. A full-time Fire
Marshal is assigned to the SDCC by the City of San Diego to insure compliance.
Booth Construction: All curtains, drapes, signs, banners, acoustical materials,
plastic cloth, and decorations must be constructed of fire resistive material,
and a certificate of flammability must be provided upon request of the Fire
Prevention Officer.
No combustible materials, merchandise, or signs shall be attached to, hung, or
draped over fire-resistive side and rear divider of booths, or attached to table
skirting facing aisles, unless fire resistive. No glitter or confetti may be
used in carpeted areas of the building.
No flammable liquids, propane or liquefied petroleum gases shall be used or
admitted inside the facility.
No spray painting is allowed on the SDCC premises.
All electrical wiring shall be installed in a manner approved by the City Chief
Electrical Inspector.
All appliances fired by natural gas shall be approved by the Fire Prevention
Officer.
No vehicles shall be parked in the fire lanes outside the SDCC.
Lighting by use of lanterns and candles is prohibited.
Vehicles on display must follow these rules:
- Vehicle gas tank can contain no more than ¼ tank of gas.
- A locking gas cap or tape over the gas cap.
- Batteries shall be disconnected in an approved manner.
- A drip pan must be placed under the vehicle’s drive train (motor to
differential).
- Keys delivered to event security.
- Refueling is prohibited in the facility.
- Floor plan must indicate where the vehicle is to be located.
Literature on display shall be limited to a one day supply. Reserve supplies
shall be kept in closed containers and stored in a neat and compact manner.
Storage of any kind is prohibited behind the back drapes or display walls or
inside display areas. All cartons, crates, containers, and packing materials
that are necessary for repacking shall be labeled with "EMPTY" stickers and
removed from the show floor. The SDCC will inspect all exhibits to ensure
compliance.
Smoking is not allowed in any public space of the SDCC. This includes the
exhibit halls, ballroom, rest rooms, lobbies, corridors and meeting rooms.
