In assessing the likelihood of accurately predicting height from infancy, William writes: "Predicting height becomes rather difficult as it is not influenced by merely one gene but by the synergistic effects of multiple genes, also known as polygenic inheritance.” Furthermore, William points out, “height is not simply a matter of genetics…from epigenetics to nutrition, all play their part in determining what a person’s final height will be.” In conclusion, William is doubtful that we would be able to predict height anytime soon.
