Thank you for visiting the Trainee section of the website for the American Society of Human Genetics, the most active professional organization for human geneticists in the world. Intellectual curiosity and altruism inspire us to do great things for the world through genetics. ASHG is committed to the next generation of scientists, as demonstrated through the many different resources in this section. As a trainee member, you can share innovative genetics research, join a rich community of like-minded scientists, and access professional development resources. Furthermore, there are many leadership opportunities exclusively for trainee members!
When I first joined ASHG as a trainee, I remember wanting to embrace all of the opportunities the Society offers, from the Annual Meeting, to fellowships, to leadership opportunities. I joined the Training and Development Committee (TDC), which is dedicated to trainee advancement, as a graduate student and was elected Chair as a postdoc. On behalf of the TDC, I encourage you to take advantage of ASHG’s useful and varied trainee programs and invite you to reach out with any questions or ideas you may have. As you get to know the different trainee leaders currently serving on different committees, you will see we are a diverse bunch. Please consider getting involved yourself. Applications for open trainee committee positions are released every October. I hope you are able to make the most of the resources and opportunities ASHG offers trainees!
