Assistance for Attendees with Special Needs

The Congress and ASHG are committed to assisting attendees with special needs. We urge individuals requiring assistance to contact us in advance of the meeting by sending an e-mail to ashgmeetings@ashg.org with your specific request. If you have difficulty in walking long distances, you may want to consider renting a scooter from Scoot Around. Visit their Web site at www.scootaround.com for more details. Click HERE for information on Montreal accessibility.

Attire/Dress Code for the Congress

Attire for the Congress is business casual. Wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers.

Camera, Cell Phone and Video Recording Devices Policy

Attendees are asked to be respectful of their colleagues by turning off all cell phones and PDA devices before entering meeting rooms. Cameras and all other recording devices are strictly prohibited in all meeting session rooms, on the Exhibit Hall floor, and in all poster/oral presentations. Attendees violating this policy may be asked to leave the room. Thank you for your cooperation.

Cell Phone Usage in Canada

Mobile phone coverage in Canada will vary depending on the type of cell phone you use, your local mobile service provider and plan, and the system upon which your phone operates. We suggest you contact your mobile service provider to learn about its international roaming coverage services and to determine if your phone is compatible with Canadian networks and frequencies. You may also wish to purchase an international calling card for use while you are in Canada.

Career Resources and Employment Opportunities

Career resources and employment opportunities will be offered in partnership with the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology. A career center will also be open in the Exhibit Hall during exhibit hours. Coaches will be available to give attendees career guidance, provide interview tips and critique resumes or CVs. Further details about career and employment opportunities, click HERE.

Certificate of Attendance

Attendees may pick up a certificate of attendance at the information counter located in the registration area of the Montreal Convention Center.

CME/CEU Credits

Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credits

CME CREDITS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED AT THE 2011 CONGRESS. Compliance with ACCME accreditation for Category I CMEs puts limits on financial support that cannot be met realistically for the ICHG 2011 Meeting. On average, approximately 200 (3%) of the 6,000+ attendees apply to earn CME credits. Unfortunately, this expense cannot be justified in 2011 since ASHG must seek external funding for conference support in the year that the Society is responsible for hosting the International Congress. CME credits will be provided again in 2012 at ASHG’s 62nd Annual Meeting.
